A special milestone has been reached in the project to deliver a brand new £3 million partnership centre for East Calder.

The new East Calder Partnership Centre has been designed to be a new modern and flexible hub for the village, and will include a multi-function hall, meeting rooms, library, changing rooms and offices, as well as accommodation to support local groups.

Executive councillor for culture and leisure Dave King laid the foundation stone at the new East Calder Partnership Centre to mark the start of the new phase in the construction process.

He was joined by representatives from the many council services and community groups who will use the new partnership centre such as the community centre management committee, community council and East Calder Colts football team.

Councillor King said: \"I\'m honoured to be invited to place the foundation stone for the new £3 million East Calder Partnership Centre.

\"The partnership centre will create a new focal point for the village, bringing together services and groups under one roof in a central location. East Calder is a growing community and it\'s vital we have the right facilities and services available to meet the needs of the local community.\"

The new East Calder Partnership Centre is being built for the council by Hadden Construction, and is expected to be open in Summer 2017.

Hadden Construction Chairman Scott Hadden said: \"Working in partnership with West Lothian Council and the designers, our team are pushing on with the delivery of what will be a fantastic community asset for the people of East Calder.\"
