Staff and pupils returned to a new-look Law Primary School this week, with work on the Phase 1 extension of the £7.5m project to the school completed on time and on cost.

The two-storey extension is the new home for pupils in Primary 4-7, while the old school building has been given a makeover to suit P1-3 pupils.

The first phase of the project, carried out by Hadden Group, has been successfully delivered on programme, with further phases being carried out at the North Berwick school, with a sports hall under construction and a new administrative block which will link the new extension to the existing school building.

Pupils were given an extra day off school – returning from the October break on Wednesday of this week instead of Tuesday – to allow staff to move into their new classrooms.

The extension includes 16 classrooms, two tutorial rooms, library, music room, resource rooms and meeting rooms and staff offices.

Jill Wareham, the school’s headteacher, was “absolutely delighted” to see the extension open.

She said: “It is bright and airy and a really great educational space. This is phase one of the project, there is more work to come, but we expect that to be finished by May. Staff and pupils are really pleased with the new block.”
