Viewmount in Forfar is the focus of a £2million housing redevelopment being delivered by Hadden Construction in partnership with Angus Council that will see tired, unpopular multi-storey flats make way for attractive, low-rise, affordable council accommodation.

The project will see 34 flats replaced by 11 new houses.

The new energy efficient homes, which will be built with an affordable housing grant of approximately £650,000 from the Scottish Government, will be available to tenants with general and special housing needs.

A number of them have already been allocated to high-priority tenants on our waiting list.

Blocks from numbers 1 to and 24 Viewmount have been demolished in the summer and it is anticipated that tenants will move in to their new homes later this year.

Once complete there will be four three-bedroom two-storey semi-detached houses; four two-bedroom single-storey semi-detached houses; two three-bedroom two-storey terraced houses; and one two-bedroom two-storey terraced house.

The four two-bedroom, two-storey, semi-detached properties have been designed to allow for roof-space conversion that could accommodate an additional one or two bedrooms and a shower room as required.

The new development will benefit from solar panels, high levels of insulation, and ventilation, all of which will contribute to reducing utility costs. These measures will also help to meet carbon reduction targets.
