New Community Hub for East Calder

Works are now complete on the new £3m community hub in East Calder providing a new modern hub for the village.

The new building provides the community with a multi-function hall, meeting rooms, library, council Customer Information Services (CIS) centre, changing rooms and offices, as well as accommodation to support groups involved in early years, play, out of school, youth work,and outdoor activities in the nearby park and pitches.

The two primary building uses of a library and community multi purpose halls provided the opportunity to create a distinct building form of two volumes which have been arranged around a south facing entrance garden and play area. The community library has been located to overlook the Main Street whilst the multi purpose halls have been orientated to overlook and open out to the playing fields.
