Forge Ahead Community Volunteer Group, in partnership with Forgewood Housing Co-op Ltd, hosted a community information event in Braidhurst High supported by Hadden Construction

The ‘Find Out About The Forgewood Community Centre’ event was organised to raise the profile of the new £1.8 million facility currently being built by us in Dinmont Crescent, Forgewood.

This enabled volunteers to answer any questions local residents had about the facility, as well as allowing the local community to celebrate the redevelopment.

Various organisations such as 2nd/4th Motherwell Boys’ Brigade, North Lanarkshire Council’s Anti-Social Behaviour Team, Glasgow Acting Academy, Basics Food Bank (Lanarkshire), and Citizen’s Advice Bureau were available with information stalls.

In addition there was lots of family activities on offer including bouncy castles, balloon modelling, free raffle, a DJ and disco, the opportunity to meet a Minion and Spiderman, arts and crafts, massage therapies, photo booth and refreshments.

Jamie Allan Brown, volunteer coordinator for Forgewood Housing Co-op Ltd, said: “The whole of Forgewood came along to find out more about the new community centre. With bouncy castles, games, candy floss and information stalls on offer throughout the day, there was something for everyone. Although don’t worry if you missed this one as we are planning more in the near future.”

Stephen Lynas, Business Development Director for Hadden Construction, who sponsored the event, said: “We were glad to support such a community focused event to raise the profile of what will be a magnificent community building for Forgewood."

WREN grant manager Sophie Cade added: “It’s fantastic to see the whole community getting behind this project and we’re really pleased to be a part of this ground breaking development."
