We have developed our own Skills Academy which now gives us the ability to offer opportunities to those who are seeking a chance to develop new skills, learn a trade and be involved in our immensely experienced and thriving workplace. 

Our Skills Academy is a programme of training and development which aims to improve your employability and practical skills across varying construction projects. The construction industry is full of diverse opportunity and our Skills Academy enables you to get your foot in the door into an ever-growing and fast-paced industry. 

The ultimate aims is that every person who enters our Skills Academy leaves work-ready and enters a role best suited to their new skills, interests and aspirations. The creation of the Academy will also ensure that we provide a diverse range of skilled workers for the future. 

Hadden Group aim to identify potential and offer continuous professional development to a variety of people. Our Skills Academy enables local people to be trained into jobs and therefore doing our part in helping create stable communities. 

By creating a Skills Academy at Hadden Group, we are able to provide our participants with an EU compliant, end-to-end procurement process and guidance which then offers access to industry approved, tried and tested benchmarks.

Hadden Group can offer various work experience placements within our head office or out on one of our construction site. If you are looking for the opportunity to work on a busy building site we may have the placement that is right for you.

Our work experience placements can range from a day to a week in length.

Our Head Office work placements include Quantity Surveying, Administration & Finance, Customer Care, Buying, and Estimating.

 Our site-based placements typically involve shadowing one of our site managers to understand how a construction site operates and is managed on a day to day basis.


Applications for our 2019 Apprenticeship Programme are now open

We’re looking for an aspiring and ambitious individual who is ready to join our highly competitive apprenticeship programme and earn while you learn.  We are currently recruiting applicants for Carpentry and Joinery.

As an apprentice with the Hadden Group, you will enjoy a great mix of practical experience and on-the-job training while studying at college to achieve the apprenticeship. Prove yourself, and you will enjoy a rewarding career. Being an apprentice in the construction industry is not easy so it is important that you understand that you will have a number of responsibilities and must be willing to:

  • Take direction from the qualified tradesmen you are assigned to
  • Attend College as per your curriculum timetable
  • Adhere to the Company's Health & Safety Policies and Procedures

This opportunity is for trainees and we therefore do not require you to have any prior experience in carpentry and joinery.  What we do require is: 

  • Evidence of recent learning experiences
  • An understanding of your chosen trade
  • An understanding of the importance of Health and Safety
  • An understanding of the benefits of effective teamwork and customer care principles
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to the working and college environment

We are also partnered with the Construction and Technology Centre based in Musselburgh. Unfortunately, the centre do not have a website yet, however, a simple google search for this facility will offer many articles covering the new centre.
